2017 Acura MDX will not be the representative of a new generation of models. It will be a representative of the third generation, while the fourth generation is expected around 2020. 2017 Acura MDX will not bring anything revolutionary. The vehicle went through a process of redesign in 2014, but now are possible minor cosmetic improvement and beautification. The biggest changes are expected in the field of improving systems and functions, which are available with a new generation Honda Pilot models. The biggest changes that will suffer the 2017 Acura MDX are related to the structure of the vehicle. The use of light and modern materials for vehicle construction will reduce the overall weight of the vehicle. So 2017 MDX will possess greater amounts of aluminum in construction. The current model runs 3.5-liter V6 engines designed by Dream Earth technology. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and FWD or AWD. The output power is 290 horsepower with 267 lb.-ft. of torque. A version with FWD has an average fuel consumption of 20 city/28 hwy/23 combined mpg. While AWD model has EPA ratings of 18 city/27 hwy/21 combined mpg. Taking into account that the 2017 Acura MDX seven-seater full-size SUV model, these new fuel economy is quite satisfactory. This engine will be offered in the 2017 model, but the reduction of vehicle weight will decrease the fuel consumption.
