2016 SRT Viper ACR Review, In an effort to group all their performance cars under one roof, FCA is trying to establish a new SRT (Street and Racing Technology) division under Dodge brand, which will be responsible for all SRT models. The new Viper will also be produced here, hence the SRT in the car’s designation. The concept shown at SEMA featured large air intakes on front bumper and a huge rear wing spoiler. The body of the car is made of carbon fiber and it sits on 19 inch alloy wheels with 15.6 inch ceramic disc rotors with Brembo brakes. 2016 SRT Viper ACR back sideThe 2016 SRT Viper ACR engine details are still a bit sketchy. The current model is powered by the 8.4 liter V10 viper engine, with 640 horse powers and 600 pound feet of torque. The rumor has it that new model will feature the same engine, but this time it will be supercharged, which should put it on par with a Hellcat’s 707 horse power monster. However, that would place 2016 SRT Viper ACR dangerously close to Ferrari F12 Berlinetta, which isn’t something Fiat would be pleased with, since they own both brands. Another limiting factor is the transmission. Current Tremec TR-6060 transmission can handle about 650 pound feet of torque, so it would be impossible to fit anything more powerful in Viper. Tremec also has a Magnum XL model, but it would require extensive modification. That is, if Viper retains its traditional 6 speed manual transmission. Some of the more vocal fans are demanding a more modern solution for a new Viper, like a dual clutch automatic transmission, something like its main competitor Corvette Z06 is already offering.
