2016 Ford F series, New lineup in 2016 Ford F series will continue to use four types of powertrains, depending on picked model. However, the entry unit is again 3.5-l Cyclone V6. This base engine delivers 283 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. Upgraded options are 2.7-l Ecoboost V6 and 5.0-l Coyote V8. A 3.5-l Ecoboost V6 tops the class with the largest output, 420 lb-ft of torque and 365 hp. Ecoboost 2.3-l has 325 hp and 375 lb-ft, while V8 Coyote delivers the most ponies, 385, but torque level is weaker, 387. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard for all models.Every vehicle from 2016 Ford F series will get same trims system. Entry levels are marked with XL. Mid-range models are XLT and Lariat, with upgraded features list comparing to base XL. King Ranch trim of Ford F series tops the class with Platinum level. However, King Ranch is somehow more useful, while Platinum level is packed with all exclusive stuff, which is not essentially needed for the main purpose of F series trucks. Also, Ford offers some appearance packages, so buyers can upgrade their vehicles with either Sport, Chrome or FX4 Off-Road package.Depending of chosen engine and driving method, list of towing numbers is pretty different. It all begins with 2WD trucks with 3.5-l unit, capable to tow just 5100 lbs. Ecoboost engines can tow up to 7600 lbs and Coyote V8 8300 lbs. Top trims go way over 10.000, with 4×4 3.5L Ecoboost V6 ready to tow almost 12.000 lbs with Heavy Duty Payload Package and 18-inch wheels installed.
